#OpSony - Sony Pictures Website And Facebook Page Hacked By Anonymous

Sony Picture's Official Website and Facebook Page Were Hacked By Anonymous. Anonymous did threaten Sony for supporting the controversial SOPA bill and now they have given a live proof of it. Sony was a victim for long time to Anonymous in the year 2011, and now looks like 2012 has not started good for Sony Pictures.

Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc. (SPE) is the television and film production/distribution unit of Japanese multinational technology and media conglomerate Sony.
The hack hit the Sony Pictures Facebook page and its web site homepage, according to reports and tweets from those involved. Comments were left on the web pages, but have since been removed.

The attacks carry the name Op Sony and were noted through the @s3rver_exe Twitter account. "#OpSony SonyPictures Hacked! by s3rver.exe , Anonnerd and N3m3515," says a tweet from that user, who continued, "I uploaded a @YouTube video Sony Pictures Hacked By Anonymous."

Your support of the act is a signed death warrant to Sony Company and Associates. Therefore, yet again, we have decided to destroy your network. We will dismantle your phantom from the internet. Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not,” Anonymous.

"The hack wasn't big, but still the servers were vulnerable and I got access to the admin too," Hacker Said.

ETrade and St George service hit by DDOS Cyber attack

The offshore Cyber attack which forced Australia's Second Biggest online broking business  , ANZ Bank to shutdown its broking business ETrade, also caused rival bank St George to close its Directshares online broking service.

"The shutdown was prompted by thousands of emails bombarding the broking site, in a denial-of-service attack(DD0S). The lockout was first noticed by ETrade customers trying to access the site overseas, as the bank shut off access to all overseas users. One frustrated customer emailed BusinessDay on December 31, saying that he was trying to prepare a tax return while in the US and Canada and still couldn't access his account." theage report says.

Yesterday only, ETrade informed about the attack to its customers and apologizing for inconvenience.

"You may have experienced issues accessing our website in recent weeks, particularly from overseas," the email said.

"The performance of our website was impacted by external malicious activity in a denial-of-service attack. A denial-of-service attack is where millions of messages are sent to the website in an attempt to disrupt service. As a result, we took the necessary steps to protect our clients and ensure your data remained secure.

"Immediate action was taken to restrict access from some overseas locations, but given the nature of the incident we were restricted in what we could communicate with you at the time. Importantly, at no stage was the security of the Etrade website breached."

According to The Sydney Morning Herald report, Yesterday, St George revealed that its online trading service is provided by Etrade, also affected by this DDOS attack. ETrade shut down the business to various countries from December 19, bringing it back online following risk assessments.

A St George spokesman said the broking service offered by Westpac, Westpac Online Investing, operated on a different system and was not affected.

"At no stage was the security of the Directshares website breached. Customer information, data and funds were not compromised or affected in any way," he said.

"We don't yet know the motivations for the attack or where the attack originated, but we are awaiting further information from external parties who are investigating."

Both National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank told BusinessDay they had not experienced an attack on their systems.

Saudi Hackers leaked Thousands of Israeli Credit card numbers

Hackers Group named as "Saudi" targets Israel based servers the leaked thousands of Iraeli Credit Card Numbers ,Hackers break into 'ONE' website and post link to dump. Bank of Israel recommends customers check accounts to identify potential fraud; card companies reassure costumers victims will be compensated.

The group targeted three credit card companies: Isracard, Leumi Card and Cal.
The Member of this Hacker Group, Group-XP, said he revealed information of 15,000 Israeli including credit card details, personal addresses, names, phone numbers and ID numbers of individuals listed on the website, One.co.il.

People who visited One’s website on Monday were redirected to a page on pastebay.com, where a message by a hacker who identified himself as xOmar 0 suggested visitors download a linked file containing a database of Israelis and their personal information.

Hackers Said :
What’s fun for us?
- Watching 400,000 people gathered in front of Israeli credit card companies and banks, complaining about cards and that they are stolen
- Watching Israeli banks shredding 400,000 credit cards and re-generate new cards (so costly, huh?)
- Watching people purchasing stuff for theirself using the cards and making Israeli credit cards untrustable in the world, like Nigerian credit cards
- and much more

Approximately 6,600 of the cards belonged to Isracard company customers. The credit card company advised that customers whose information was exposed would be notified and have their Internet capabilities frozen.

Leumi Card reported that 4,000 of its customers' credit card details were posted. The company has restricted the affected cards' Internet capabilities and was set to contact cardholders on Tuesday.

Both companies said that victims of identity theft would be compensated.

Visa CAL announced that it would suspend all accounts that were listed in the post, contact the affected customers Tuesday and issue new credit cards.

According to Army Radio, the hackers encouraged readers to use the information posted online to make purchases, and said they would continue to publish more account information already in their possession.

Amazon Shipping Confirmation emails leads to Malware infection

A series of fake 'Shipping Confirmation" emails purporting to be from Amazon.com have been hitting inboxes around the world. The messages supposedly provide recipients with shipping and order information about a recent purchase of expensive items such as mobile phones or computer equipment. The emails invite recipients to click links, ostensibly to track their package, manage orders or arrange for the return of the shipped item.

The emails are designed to panic users into clicking links in the mistaken belief that their Amazon account or credit card has been compromised.

Those who fall for the ruse and click one of the links will be taken not to Amazon.com as they expect, but rather to a website that harbours a BlackHole Exploit Kit. This criminal tool kit is used to infect the hapless visitor's computer with malware by exploiting security flaws present on the targeted PC. This particular attack attempts to infect the visitor's computer with a version of the Cridex malware that can steal personal and financial information from the infected computer, connect to a remote server and download further malware components.

Subject lines and other details, including the item supposedly purchased, vary in different incarnations of the malware message. Be cautious of any unsolicited email claiming to be a shipping notification from Amazon. If you receive such an email do not follow any links that it may contain.

Spam Mail "I'm in trouble!" Redirecting to Malware Sites

MX Lab intercept a spam mail with the subject “Fwd: I’m in trouble!” that leads to malware infection.

The Spam Mail:
I was at a party, got drunk, couldn’t drive the car, somebody gave me a lift on my car, and crossed on the red light!
I’ve just got the pictures, maybe you know him???
Here is the photo
I need to find him urgently!

Asmita
Fingerprint: c72d5b3c-af1af1a5
The hacker trick users by providing some fake Fingerprint so that it will look real one.

The link "Here is the photo" leads to a malware site.  The URL can be identified quite easily because they are fairly long, will point to servers where blogs are hosted and quite often have what appears random characters and variables inside.

If you get these type of emails, stay away from the link and delete the mail. Don't try to reply or follow the link, it will harm your system.

Key infrastructure systems of 3 US cities Under Attack By Hackers

BBC News Reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced recently that key infrastructure systems of three US cities had been accessed by hackers. Such systems commonly known as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) are increasingly being targeted by hackers.

At a recent cybersecurity conference, Michael Welch, deputy assistant director of the FBI's cyber division, said "hackers had accessed crucial water and power services. The hackers could theoretically have dumped sewage into a lake or shut off the power to a shopping mall."

We just had a circumstance where we had three cities, one of them a major city within the US, where you had several hackers that had made their way into SCADA systems within the city,” Welch told delegates at the Flemings Cyber Security conference.“Essentially it was an ego trip for the hacker because he had control of that city’s system and he could dump raw sewage into the lake, he could shut down the power plant at the mall a wide array of things,” he added.

In the city of South Houston, Texas, a hacker named pr0f claimed to have broken into a control system that supplied water to the town. Pr0f claimed the system had only been protected by a three-character password which “required almost no skill” to get around.

Security experts predict there will be a rise in such attacks."Such systems have become a target partly because of all the chatter about the lack of security. Hackers are doing it out of curiosity to see how poorly they are protected," said by senior security consultant at Sophos.

However the firms that run SCADA systems, such as Siemens, often advise against changing passwords because the threat from malware is not a big a problem as if passwords are changed.

Dutch Security Firm "Gemnet" Compromised

Another Dutch Security firm "Gemnet" get compromised. The hack appears to have started when someone discovered a publicly accessible instance of phpMyAdmin without a password. phpMyAdmin is a web interface for managing SQL databases that should not be facing the open internet, password required or not.
By manipulating the databases the attacker was allegedly able to gain control over the system and all of the documents contained on it. The parent company, KPN, insists the documents contained on the server were all publicly available.
webwereld reports that the hacker claims to have accessed non-public documents that outlined the secure communication networks and procedures for communication between KPN and governments and customers.
Gemnet CSP, KPN's certificate authority division, has also suspended access to their website. While KPN believes that Gemnet CSP has not been compromised, it would appear they are taking precautions while they investigate the incident. The attacker reportedly was able to obtain the password (braTica4) used for administrative tasks on the server as well.

Brief About Gemnet:-
Gemnet provide security consulting and authentication technologies to nearly all parts of the Dutch government including the Ministry of Security and Justice, Bank of Dutch Municipalities and the police.

Russian hackers hit Twitter with automated hashtags tweets

Russian hackers have taken aim at Twitter in recent days to hamper communication between opposition activists as outrage against the conduct of last week's general elections grows. The pro-government messages were generated by thousands of Twitter accounts that had little activity beforehand. The hashtag is #триумфальная (Triumfalnaya), the name of the square where many protesters gathered.

Maxim Goncharov, a senior threat researcher at Trend Micro, observed that “if you currently check this hash tag on twitter you’ll see a flood of 5-7 identical tweets from accounts that have been inactive for month and that only had 10-20 tweets before this day. To this point those hacked accounts have already posted 10-20 more tweets in just one hour.

Brian Krebs, the author of the blog Krebs on Security, noted that the ‘bot accounts he lists them here appear to follow a single account called @master_boot, as well as following each other. The accounts were also all created in July of this year. Besides pro-government tweets many of the messages are gibberish.

Getting the software for such attacks isn’t that hard, about $150 one can get the automated Twittering software, and a “Twitter blasting machine” totals about $300. Social networks are becoming an increasingly important stage for conflict between governments and their people. Occupy Wall Street has made effective use of Tumblr, and protests in Egypt were often organized using Twitter and Facebook.

Hackers Have Stolen $54,000 YMCA Checking Account

The Nishna Valley Family YMCA executive director Dan Hayes said hackers stole $54,000 from the organization's checking account through an undetected virus. FBI said it is investigating a cyber attack that targeted an Iowa YMCA.
Haynes said the hackers used the virus to read their banking information. Information technology experts said it's not a new type of attack, but it's definitely destructive. Experts said the virus most likely spread through an email disguised as business-related.
Information technology specialist Jim Burnette said he's seen it before. "They go through all of their logs that they get back and pick out the username and password URL of the bank. They go in and set up fund transfers to various banks across the country," Burnette said.
Burnette said the virus isn't new but is defying authorities and protection software. The organization said the loss is taking a huge toll and that its group is already dipping into its savings in order to stay alive. "This summer, we were going to buy 10 treadmills. Well, that's treadmills we can't buy because the money isn't here," Hayes said.
YMCA members said they are worried that their personal information was accessed through the hacking. "I was very shocked and worried," said a YMCA member. The YMCA sent out letters to members informing them of the breach. It said there is still no evidence personal accounts were accessed.
"We have a lot of volunteers that come out help us every year to raise money for scholarships and things like that. It's kind of disheartening when people take that kind of money," Haynes said. Experts advised that to avoid such incidents, people must get good virus protection software and update it daily. They said people should not also open emails from people or businesses they don't know or messages they aren't expecting.

Anonymous Took Responsibility Of Hacking Into 50+ Toronto Websites (#OccupyToronto)

Anonymous took responsibility of hacking into 50+ Toronto websites. In a YouTube video anon said
"We have been receiving plenty of complaints that Toronto business based websites have been hacked. People quickly assumed that OccupyTO was behind this, but luckily Anonymous stepped up to the plate for taking responsibilities for their actions. At this moment we do not know why the websites were redirect to OccupyTO’s website (www.occupyto.org). Although, this seemed to be a response to the first video that threatened to remove Toronto from the internet. All we can say at this point is that Anonymous, is stating a point that this occurred because of the cities actions to evict the protesters. A video is claiming that Anonymous attacked 50+ Toronto business based website, took down Canadian Craigslist website, and gained access to a valuable email account. We hope everything comes down to a peaceful agreement."

"It has come to our attention that some websites in Toronto have started re-directing to the occupyto.org website.  Please be advised that this action is NOT condoned by the Occupy Toronto movement, rather some individual has taken it upon themselves to compromise websites in this way.
The issue seems to be related to websites running Joomla 1.5 or 1.6.  The solution is to check the source code of the page and search for the word ‘occupy’.  Once you have located the code you should have an indication of what article contains the script.  In some cases it may be in multiple articles.  Just edit and save each infected article and the problem should be solved.
If you are unable to solve the problem yourself, free support is being offered.  Just send an email to occupyto@blinktwice.ca with your website address and the username and password of an account that has access to edit your website.  Rest assured your login information will be held in the strictest confidence.  Once the problem is solved it is advised to change your password(s) to the site" Anonymous added.

Portuguese Under Massive Cyber Attack From Lulzsec

Dangerous Lulzsec strikes the WWW and claimed the responsibility for the attacks on the governmental websites in Portugal, as a response to social inequalities and police brutality, Press TV reports.
Lulzsec group announced that Portugal government's austerity measures and the police violence against demonstrators during the strike of November 24 set the attacks off. The group has been responsible for hacking Portugal's institutional websites, such as the police, parliament, secret services and political parties, for hours.
“The attacks made on the internet proved to the country that there is a response to the tactics utilized by the police against the activists,” a Portuguese social activist told Press TV reporter.
There is a police investigation taking place and members of public agencies are asking their employees to avoid leaving personal information on internet pages.
