New Variant of Ramnit Worm hijacks 45,000 Facebook Accounts

A worm called Ramnit recently started targeting Facebook accounts with considerable success, stealing over 45,000 Facebook login credentials, reported by Seculert Researchers.

Ramnit at Past:
This worm discovered in April 2010, at first it was infecting Windows Executable as well as HTML files. Also it steals stealing sensitive information such as stored FTP credentials and browser cookies.

In July 2011 a Symantec report that Ramnit worm is responsible for 17.3 % of all new malicious software infections.

In August 2011, Trusteer named Ramnit as "Hybrid Creatures" that capable of doing Ramnit infection and the ZeuS financial data-sniffing capabilities.(Ramnit+ZeuS)

According to their report, around 800,000 Machines infected Ramnit from September to end of December 2011.

Recent Attack:
Recently, A new 'financial' Ramnit variant aimed at stealing Facebook login credentials worldwide, mostly from people in the UK and France. Since the Ramnit Facebook command and control (C&C) URL is visible and accessible , researchers are able to determine the precise number of Facebook victims it has made so far.

Facebook open Registration for Facebook's 2012 Hackers Cup

Facebook Announced open registration for Facebook’s 2nd annual Hacker Cup. Programmers from around the world will be judged on accuracy and speed as they race to solve algorithmic problems to advance through up to five rounds of programming challenges. This is your chance to compete against the world’s best programmers for awesome prizes and the title of World Champion.

The top 25 will be fly into the facebook campus for final rounds and the 1st place prize is $5000 USD. $2,000 for second place, $1,000 for third, and $100 for fourth through 25th. Awesome t-shirts for the top 100 hackers coming out of the second online round.

Details:

The competition commences with a 72-hour Qualification Round on January 20, 2012 at 4:00 PM PT and ends on January 23, 2012 at 4:00 PM PT. All registered competitors will be presented with three problems. Every competitor who correctly solves at least one problem will advance to Online Round 1.

Online Round 1 will last 24 hours from January 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM PT and ends on January 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM PT. To advance to Online Round 2, participants must solve at least one problem correctly. If more than 500 people solve at least one problem correctly, then the top 500 participants will advance, as well as everyone else who answered the same number of questions correctly as the 500th-place contestant.

Online Round 2 will last three hours from February 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM PT and end February 4, 2012 at 4:00 PM PT. The competitors will have three hours to solve the presented problem sets. The top-scoring 100 participants from Online Round 2 will receive an official Hacker Cup t-shirt. The top-scoring 100 competitors from Online Round 2 will be notified via email that they have advanced to Online Round 3.

Online Round 3 will last three hours from February 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM PT and end February 11, 2012 at 4:00 PM PT. The 100 competitors will have three hours to solve the presented problem sets. The top-scoring 25 competitors from Online Round 3 will be notified via email that they have advanced to the final round at Facebook.

Facebook will fly the top-scoring 25 competitors to Menlo Park, California, for the final round of competition on March 17, 2012, where they'll receive some great cash prizes and other awesome goodies. Out of these 25 finalists, one champion will emerge and be immortalized on the Hacker Cup trophy. Finalists will be responsible for obtaining their own entry visa before arrival in the USA; however, Facebook will reimburse the finalist for any visa application fee and up to $100 USD in travel expenses incurred in obtaining the visa. According to Australian technologist Nik Cubrilovic: 'Logging out of Facebook is not enough.' He added, Even after you are logged out, Facebook is able to track your browser's page every time you visit a website. He wrote in his blog 'With my browser logged out of Facebook, whenever I visit any page with a Facebook like button, or share button, or any other widget, the information, including my account ID, is still being sent to Facebook.'

After explaining the cookies behavior he also suggested a way to fix the tracking problem: 'The only solution to Facebook not knowing who you are is to delete all Facebook cookies.'

If you want to know the IP address of a specific person on facebook or orkut or any chat service, there is only one way: Just invite or ping him for a chat and while chat is ON open ‘Command Prompt‘ on your PC (Start >Run>cmd).
Note: before trying this make sure you close all the other tabs in your browser. and only facebook is open. also if possible delete all the history and cache from your browser.
Now the next step that you have to do for this facebook trick is opens the command prompt Type the following command and hit Enter.
netstat -an
And you will get all established connections IP addresses there. Note down all the suspicious IP’s
2.The Next PC Trick is to trace that user using his IP address:
To do this facebook tricks we will be using IP tracer service. For this Go to the following address : http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/
and paste the IP address in the box that says “lookup this ip or website”. and it will show you the location of the user.
It will show you all the information about that user along with his ISP and a Location in the MAP. Now in the MAP Just click on “click for big ip address location” in the big picture you can actually zoom in. and try to recognize the area. If any serious matter just note down the ISP details in that page and contact them about the IP. they will respond you. Use this facebook trick if you are in a problem with some unknown friend.

U3 USB Smart Drive to Become Ultimate Hack Tool

This is very dangerous so I thought I can bring it to your notice how to defend yourselves, because the hacker can program a script to extract and steal sensitive information such as visited sites, saved email and instant messenger passwords, wi-fi password, auto complete entries and etc... Other than stealing information, it can also be used to delete everything on a hard drive. Just wanted to clarify that it is not possible to do that on normal traditional USB flash drives. You will need a U3 smart drive such as Kingston, SanDisk Cruzer Micro, SanDisk Cruzer Titanium and Memorex Mini TravelDrive.
U3 smart drive are slightly more expensive than traditional USB flash drives. I purposely went and bought a SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 4GB at the price of USD45 to test it out and then write an article for you to read... How nice of me! Here's how I hacked my U3 smart drive to autorun malicious programs.

The concept of how can U3 smart drive autorun program is quite simple. Normal USB flash drives only has 1 drive letter but for U3 smart drive, it has 2 drives. One is the normal storage drive and the other one is an emulated CD drive.

It's the emulated CD drive that autorun malicious scripts or programs to collect information and then copies the stolen information to the storage drive.
There are 3 main ready made payload called USB Switchblade, USB Hacksaw and USB Chainsaw(still in early development).
USB Switchblade goal is to silently recover information from computers running Windows 2000 or higher. It is able to get password hashes, LSA secrets, IP information, etc... USB Switchblade also requires administrative privileges in order to run the payload. I will demonstrate on how to hack U3 smart drive with -=GonZor=- SwitchBlade technique.
1. Download -=GonZor=- Payload V2.0
2. Download Universal Customizer
3. Unzip the Universal Customizer to "C:\Universal_Customizer"
4. Unzip the -=GonZor=- Payload V2.0 to "C:\Payload"
5. Copy the file U3CUSTOM.ISO from C:\Payload to C:\Universal_Customizer\BIN replacing the old one.
6. Run C:\Universal_Customizer\Universal_Customizer.exe and plug in U3 smart drive.
- Select Accept and click Next.
- Close all U3 applications and any applications that access your U3 drive and click Next.
- Set a password for the backup zip file (Empty password not allowed)
- Click Next and it will start backing up data. Wait for the Universal Customizer to modify your CD partition and replace your files to the flash drive.
- The modification should now be complete, Unplug your U3 Drive and plug it back in

7. Copy "C:\Payload\SBConfig.exe" to the mass storage of the flash drive
8. Run SBConfig.exe from flash drive
- Select the check boxes of the Payload options you would like to use
- Enter your email address and password for the HackSaw if you wish to use it.
- Click "Update Config" button, a message box should appear to confirm this is completed
- Toggle between using the payload or not by clicking the "Turn PL On"/"Turn PL Off" button
- Toggle between using the U3 Launcher or not by clicking the "Turn U3 Launchpad On"/"Turn U3 Launchpad Off" button
9. You now have -=GonZor=- Payload V2.0 in your U3 smart drive which can automatically steal password once it is plugged in to a computer with administrative privileges.
I've tested it and it's very scary because when I plugged in the hacked U3 smart drive with USB Switchblade payload, the payload ran silently and invisibly! It did not modify any system settings nor sent any network traffic. There is a log file created at
F:\System\Logs\COMPUTERNAME (F: drive is the storage drive) by the payload and I am shocked to see that my network configurations, router password, Windows Live Messenger password, Google Talk password, Gmail password, all Firefox passwords, Internet Explorer passwords, ICQ password, Windows Product Keys and etc being recorded in that log file!

There are other techniques available for USB Switchblade payload that you might want to check it out.
As for the USB Hacksaw, it is an evolution of the popular USB Switchblade that uses a modified version of USBDumper, Blat, Stunnel, and Gmail to automatically infect Windows PCs with a payload that will retrieve documents from USB drives plugged into the target machine and securely transmit them to an email account. As you can see, it wasn't really hard to hack my U3 USB smart drive to become the ultimate hack tool. So be very careful when someone wants to plug in their USB flash drive, ESPECIALLY U3 smart drive into your computer.
If you accidentally used the payload on yourself or someone that you didn't want to, I found two antidotes to remove it. The first antidote is by Spektormax. In Spektormax's antidote, there are 2 antidotes, antidote(HOME).cmd and antidote(PRO).cmd. This is because Windows XP Pro has the tool taskill while HOME only has tskill. The PRO one can force stop a process even while it doesn't want to be, the home cannot. Use the PRO if you can, use HOME if you only have XP home.

The second antidote is called USB Antidote which is still in early planning stages with the goal of becoming a tool for systems administrators to defend against other USB based attacks, including autorun workarounds, anti-virus updating, operating system patching, and automatic configuration of other USB attack mitigation techniques. This is not just an antidote for the Switchblade, but it is a complete toolkit for quickly securing a pc, with registry tweaks, virus, spyware, and rootkit scanning, and an overall cleanup.

How to Set Auto-Response For Facebook Chat !

There are lots of Messengers available , my favourite one is Digsby . My many friends have asked me that how do they get Auto Response when they send some IM ! So here is the Solution for it !

Firstly you will need to download Digsby Software . It s IM software which allows you to login to various accounts like Gtalk, Yahoo , Facebook , AIM , Live , Twitter , MySpace etc . .

Now just Follow Steps :-

1) Open Digsby

If you are already Digsby member then directly jump to step 5

2) Now you will have to create 1 Digsby Account which you will use for Digsby.
3) Now Go to  Digsby >> My Accounts  . . Here add your account (FB,Gmail,Yahoo) username and passwords and say "Save"
4) Now your User Names are Paswords are with Digsby , so you will not need to enter it everytime . What you will need is just Digsby acount Username & Password

5) Now go to Digsby >> My Status >> " Away "

6) Now change "Away" with whatever you want !

7) Go to Tools >> Preferences >> Status >> Tick on " Auto-Response with Status Message "
  
8) Now autoresponse will be activated

9) If any one sends you IM then it will look like this ( i am showing you for FB , same is the case with others )

Even if you're planning to maintain a social presence on both Google Plus and Facebook, it's always smart to have multiple backups of your photos. And since Google Plus now offers unlimited photo storage, it's a good place to keep an extra copy of your digital pics.

To get started, you first need to install the browser extension Move2Picasa. This puts a small Picasa icon at the top of Google Chrome, next to the address bar. To use the app, click the button to authenticate with Facebook.

You can then check and uncheck which Facebook albums will be copied over to Picasa. You can either check "upload all," "upload none," or you can pick and choose the photos to migrate. The extension even offers to delete any empty albums you may have accidentally created over on Picasa previously.

After selecting the photos, it's just one click of the "upload button" to get the process started. The export process goes pretty quickly, we found, even if you have a large number of photos.

When the photo uploads are complete, these albums will be available to you in Google Plus (set to private by default). You can then share them with your Google Plus Circles, as you would any other album hosted on the site.

Create a Upside Down Status for Facebooʞ !

If you’ve been on Facebook long enough, you’ve probably noticed a few people posting upside down status updates. They sure do think they’re clever don’t they?!  Yes, you too can be the envy of all of your friends and family by posting your updates so that people have to look silly by tilting their heads upside down so they can read it.

Most of the people you’ve seen doing this have likely installed a Facebook app just to do so. However, I dislike installing apps because you always have to provide permissions to those applications to access your profile. A better approach is to use the free online application at FlipText to generate your upside down status update.
